History
Venei rarely talks about her early life, let alone in detail. What little is known is she was once a conscript of the Imperial Army who was used as a test subject for an unknown project. She was found in an Imperial Testing Facility before she was brought back to Ul'dah. The Sultana had attempted to raise her but decided against it, instead having the Thaumaturge Guild of the Arrzaneth Ossuary raise her. Over time, Venei's fear and distrust of people turned into a jaded caution toward them. With more work through her time with the Tiny Dragon, she simply keeps an open mind to anyone she meets.
What is beyond this point is not common knowledge, a few people know parts of this information, it is not something she shares.
What Venei refuses to tell others about is how she got to the facility, what happened, and that she remembers every second of it. She was once known as Sasami Sami, a lalafell who had a growth deficiency. At a young age, she passed away in an imperial camp within a month of being taken. She was brought back by an experiment to create a new type of hypertuned soldier, though she was to be considered a failure as she was unable to show a sense of independence. It was when a strange benefactor gifted her the soul of an old friend of theirs that she was considered a success. Tests were run to see what she could do, ones that left her with poor eyesight, aphasia, and a deeply rooted distrust of others.
